Charity Spotlight: Homes For Our Troops

Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a nonprofit charity that builds and donates handicap-adapted custom homes for post-9/11 Veterans who have sustained severe injuries, allowing them to rebuild their lives.  The HFOT homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrifice while defending our country, and enable them to focus on family, finances, and employment.  After returning from service abroad, these heroes are able to recover in a setting they can call their own.  HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives.    

• In just 15 years, HFOT has built more than 280 homes. 
• Before receiving an HFOT home, 12% of Veterans obtained a degree and after receiving an HFOT home, 69% obtained a degree.
• The average American household size remained unchanged at 2.6 from 2005-2017 - HFOT families grew from 2.7 to 3.8.
• After receiving their HFOT homes, 58% of Veterans decreased family debt, 57% increased savings, and 37% increased family income.
