Leave it to Pizza Hut to turn their classic tablecloth patterns and stained glass light fixtures into t-shirts, sandals, and tracksuits. Who can resist the nostalgia of red roofs, Tiffany-style lamps, and Book It?
Pizza Hut has become one of the latest chains to launch its own online merch shop (every brand seems to have one these days from Frito-Lay to Hidden Valley) - and though the concept may be modern, all of Pizza Hut's items are firmly rooted in their retro iconography. Their new merch drop does not disappoint - even their classic plastic red cups made the cut.
They're nick-naming the lineup their "first-ever streetwear collection" which features five products, all of which are available exclusively through the online store and will be sold while supplies last.
The most expensive of the Pizza Hut gear is the Track Suit, with a pattern designed to mimic Pizza Hut's trademark red/white checkered tablecloths. It pairs well with the Pizza Slides sandals.
For anyone shopping for something more modest, the Tiffany Lamp T-Shirt is a straightforward white shirt, sporting a cartoonish take on Pizza Hut's signature lighting choice. Or for something flashier, the Pizza Chain is a golden-colored pizza slice to be worn as a necklace.
Finally, for the practical nostalgist, you can order a four-piece set of the aforementioned iconic Red Cups to drink whatever beverage you want - we recommend Polar Seltzer - with Pizza Hut-style in the comforts of your own home.
Lindsay Morgan, the chain's chief marketing officer, said in a statement, "We're so excited to give our biggest fans a chance to show off their pizza love through fun, trending streetwear-inspired pieces that are still classically Pizza Hut. From the bejeweled pepperoni chain to the classic red cups, our team thoughtfully crafted the details to give fans nationwide a fresh way to show off their Pizza Hut love."
Pizza Hut claims these five products are just the beginning. "The Pizza Hut Tastewear collection marks the first of many Hut Shop drops offered exclusively through the new PizzaHutShop.com," the company writes. Maybe Pizza Hut branded pizza cutters are less of a stretch of the imagination than we thought.
